Assignment 1

What inspired me to choose the specific design elements and layout for my blog was I looked at popular blog sites in general and also sports blogs to see how they were laid out. I then started to sketch the main website using a combination of the general and sports sites. I saw that using blocks for pictures and text was very popular and it was easy to follow. The main color of my site is green, but because my site is a sports blog, I found it hard to have multiple colors because there would be too much going on. When I put in pictures, I will make it, so they have some type of green tint to them, so it matches the green that I am using for the top and bottom blocks. I am hoping that this one color will be more visually appealing than having a lot of different colors. My chosen design of the blocks will be easy to follow and will go in order of importance as you keep scrolling through the page, and because this is a sports site, I thought that would be important. 

Assignment 2

I chose these photos because I really like sunsets and watching them, I think they are beautiful. I also took these photos myself, which to me personally means more. I chose this quote because I looked up sunset captions and I liked this one the best. I did not do a ton of editing because I think the pictures already do the work that is needed. I also did some editing lining/layering them up the way they are so it would look best. I also did not want the caption to be too big and take away from the photos, but I think adding it made it less boring with just pictures.

Assignment 3

I feel really good about my logo as I think I did a good job of matching what my sketch was and simple. I find it somewhat easy to use, as I am not the best with technology, but I think it is the easiest technology to use this semester so far. The more I used it the more I got used it the more it was easier to use, and I bet if I practiced more, it would be even easier to use. I honestly am not sure how I could use this in the future, as I am not the most tech savvy person. I am a public relations major so I could possibly see myself using it for any of my future jobs. Also just using it to get more experience/using it for fun.

Assignment 4

My experience working on InDesign was okay. This was probably my last favorite technology we have done in this class so far. The program itself though was pretty user friendly, since these are all Adobe that we are using in class, they are pretty similar and at least for what we are doing there was not a lot of different options that we had to use. The details that factored into my choice for this final layout was the color of the background. I was really struggling with what pictures to do that matched with my text. Although, as I am not a big designer or a creative person, I never really liked the way I set up the pictures in any of them, but again I think I like the background colors on this one the best. I think one reason why I did not like InDesign that much is because I could never see myself using it for personal work. However, if there was a time for a school project or work and I needed it for putting text and pictures together, I might use this because I am somewhat familiar with it.
